i saw a thread today about overpresure isues with factory amo and i thought i would report an issue ive had/noticed with igman 6.5x55mm ammo i use this ammo in my ag-42b it works flawlessly and is accurate however i find the rounds to be slightly overpresure but im not sure if maybe my gun has something to do with it or its just hotter ammo than say remington....

sings ive noticed are the primer is flattened on one side and every mark on my bolt face has been tranfered into the case head of fired cases and about every 10th case splits slightly at the shoulder....

has anyone else noticed this ammo showing signs of high presure? or is it just my gun that has a problem with it?

ive tried seller and belloit factory ammo and it seems to have alot more power (in felt recoil anyway) and alot louder but doesnt ever split or flatten primers it does however eject rather hard and the whole case gets soot stained which leads me to believe the propellants might be too slow for the gas system in the AG-42 which is causing the action to open slightly early while presure levels are still coming down....

and as to why this is in the reloading section and not ammo is beyond me....looks like its time for bed....half asleep.... if a mod wouldent mind fixing my mess up that would be awesome!....sorry guys....

I once ran into an over pressure issue with some old Remington Bronze Point stuff...after a couple of very unexpected blown primers, I tried to pull the rest. They were so cemented into the brass with some kind of green lacquer, I had to run them through the seating die to break them loose before I could pull them with an RCBS collet puller.

Those were the only commercial loads I've seen that I've seen lacquered in, although I've heard that some military stuff is.
