P-17 is a Remington mod 30 express

Ok so now I know that my rifle/action was produced between 1926 and 1940.
How is the action similar to a P-17 and has anyone worked with these before?

P17 M0d 30

they are identical except the rear sight ears are missing as well as the hole in the rear bridge. The have also been ground and polished.
the triggers are even the same. There is also a different style trigger gaurd shape, no hump. bearhunter

The action was made adapting left over M1917 parts.

There were some changes depending on when it was made. #### on opening, different firing pin assemblies, different bolt handle, among a few other changes come to mind. There is a decent write up in Bolt Action Rifles of the changes. I have numerous P14s, M17s and a couple of 30 Expresses, and you can see the progression as time passes. Now if I could just find a reasonably priced 720 (the next progression of the design), I would be in hog heaven. - dan
