Well I must say that I am quite impressed with the selection of Kimber rifles that have recently come into the shop. There is an 84M in 257 Roberts that is a real beaut. Super light weight with a beautiful stock and a very nice trigger.
Some very nice wood on the 270 as well. Geez when you see how much the new Sako's are going for , these rifles seem like a bargain. FS

The BIL is looking for an Ultralight mountain rifle and asked for suggestions. Did you handle any synthetic stainless Kimbers while there Fassteel? I mentioned the 84 Montana to him as a possible.

So what are your first impressions? :)
-Fit
-Quality of finish
-Balance
-Trigger
-Safety

Ill have to give a range report when I actually get time to shoot it. I have eye surgery tomorrow, recovering on the weekend and working stupid hours the next week. Ill include it with the RR from the 10/22 I just put together....

Overall first impressions from handling it in the shop were very good. Felt great in the hands, and the balance seemed to be good. Wont know until I shoot it.

I had a 8400 Classic in 270 WSM I traded to Supercub, it shot very well. Fit and finish was well above production quality. I now own an 8400 Montana in 300 WSM. It is one of the nicest handling lightweights I have had, and the F&F again is great. Both have superb triggers. If this one does well, a classic in .243 or .257 will likely be next.
If you do get one, make sure you get the Talley Lightweights for them. They are way cheaper than the leupold get-up.

Not so sure it is a matter of if, it is just when. To begin with he was talking about the one in 7-08. Now the 338 Federal is teasing him. Rekon he's one of Bartell's groupies.:pIt will be in the Montana lightweight model, hopefully it will be manageable to shoot. At only 5lb 1oz little cartriges can feel like a lot.
Now I just need to convince him his 6-18 Leupold may not be the best optik to add to the package. Perhaps he was giving me the gears with that. I hope he'd set a 2-7 or 3-9 compact VX II on there instead.

Thanks for the heads up on the rings.;)

Is there anyone else in Canada who carries the Kimbers?

Of course, P&D is local, very well stocked and excellent to deal with. :);)

Thanks Nestor. And yes I agree, I got some rings from them last year this time and they got them to me within 30 hours. Not many shops care enough to do that!

Just in the slim chance someone has what Nugget seeks we may have to search all of Kanada. Not unlike his 375 Wooger.
Cheers!
