Well, they do exist! Many years ago, my shooter friend gave me a No.4 rifle with no bolt. I mistook the P.O.F. for R.O.F. at the time and put the rifle away until a couple of years ago. I had purchased a No.4 Mk2 POF form a CGN'r. I got checking my Lee Enfields and the No4 from years ago turned out to be a P.O.F. Mk1. The trigger guard has a stamp "P 58". The wrist socket and the LH receiver carry serial no. B16875, and is marked '56.
I suspect the trigger guard has been changed to Mk2 design, as both guards seem to be the same. The Mk1 now has a bolt and wears an SK no gunsmithing mount and a nice old Weaver V9 scope. I've had the old girl out for a couple of runs. She shoots like a dream. The fellow who gave me the rifle has passed on. He was a First Nations man with a deep love for milsurp rilfes. I have fond memories of the hours we spent together shooting and studying various rifles.
