Does anybody know just how bad the M1's P&S are? have no issues with the beat up wood and finish, I actually kind of like it. But really don't want to get one with badly worn parts and a shot out/worn barrel.

How bad will it be? I can tell you from several experiences (including with a Garand) how good it will be:

Exactly as advertized;
Exactly as shown in the pictures; and
Exactly as he describes if you pose more questions.
 
I have one.
It's a HRA with a 5.6mil serial number and a '55 dated barrel , I'm trying to find out if it's still factory original. ( other than the Schuster adj. gas screw I put on , the original has the HRA stamp)

It came as advertised with lot's of dings and the finish is worn on metal.

The stocks are solid and the "grey" looks great!

All I did was gently scrub any crud off the wood with BLO on a scotchbrite pad and clean/oil the metal ...I wouldn't even try to "re-blue" , "refinsh".
As far as accuracy , I'm getting one hole groups at 100yd ...the only other milsurp I have that will do that is my Swede M96.

ditto. Jean has been in the business long enough to have built a good reputation. I've known him personally for cough cough 30+ yrs). From the looks of his stock, if he had walk-in traffic, the store would be as well-known as Epps or Milarm. But he lives in the same town as he always has, and built the business with his father over the years.

I am gonna disagree Andy. Jean is NOT right when he comes to his descriptions. :mad:

I bought a bayonet off him and well ... it was in BETTER condition then he rated it, and his pictures had shown. :rockOn: :cheers: :rockOn:

I say deal with a lot of confidence when it comes to him. :D

Anyone who has had dealings with P&S will tell you the same. You get what you are told you will get, along with prompt and courteous service. Items are professionally pkged and shipped. IMHO it really doesn't get any better.
 
My new toy from P&S is on the way, so I can't give complete feedback yet. His rep is very good, and he answered all my questions. Tell him what you want, and he'll tell you what he has.

I've bought many rifles from him over the years. His prices are fair, he responds quickly to emails (which is a lot more than you can say about other retailers), and his descriptions are right on.
 
i go to his shop all the time and everytime i go there he`s takin pictures of a rifle for a customer or describing the weapon on the phone to someone and every time i see what hes talkin about and its always true... hes a great guy and its always fun to go visit him, great/interesting convos!! and he really knows his stuff.. oh and i think he usually handpicks every weapon he sells which is good...
 
Now that's interesting. After decades of super consuming, here comes the Web supporting a return to an age-old business model I thought was going extinct - quality, rather than quantity. Yay! :)

Ok, so I went ahead and purchased one. Now I've got one more question. I don't handload as of yet, and was wondering if anybody knew where I can acquire an adjustable gas nut? And don't say Brownell's, they won't export the part.
