I have a p14 that I am not using, I was wondering what the procedure is for converting this to a 45/70 or other calibre, 22 Hornet would be great also, Any ideas and which way to turn????
Thanks Peter

22 Hornet would be an absolute waste on a large action like the P14and be set up as a single shot due to the feeding problems it would present.

45/70 requires rebarrel and some feed work. Going to cost approximately $500.00 to get this done.

You often see barrels advertised.....way not buy one of these and be satisfied with the calibre.

P14

P14's make great big bores but you probably are better to sell and purchase what you want. If the rifle has been sporterized, stock, receiver, scope mount etc. your conversion costs will be less. Probably the most cost efficient big bore conversion is 458 Winchester- P14 bolt face is correct, receiver does not require modification for "short magnums", magazine will work with a new P17 follower, barrel and installation is the major cost. Barrel should be obtainable for $300-$400, maybe more, maybe less. Also the 458 can easily be downloaded to 45/70 velocities. Good luck.

Go to 458 Lott, don't waste time with the 458 win mag. Perjaps 375 H&H improved???
