P14 Magazine bottom plate

I have a P14 that I cannot get the bottom plate to catch on. I tried the plate on my other P14 with no problem.

I have a feeling that the trigger guard assemble my be bent since I canget the bottom plate to connect if I slide it unlevel without the front.

Here is a photo of how far the front has to be offset for the catch to lock in.

Any ideas what I could do to fix this?

Are the triggerguard parts all same maker ie:E,W,R ? The P14 and M1917 were found to have minor differences between the three makers. Some parts definetly dont like being mixed.

I am not sure about the magazine plate it only appears to have a number 6 or 9 (not sure whixh side is up). The rifle is an eddystone
