P226 vs hk45

For a 45 pistol, it's hard to beat, it just works with zero maintenance. I was shooting reloads (dirty) as well and it just kept going. It'a a "keeper" for sure.

I sold mine awhile back to move down to 9mm and i bought a USP 9mm but its too small for my hands.

Wow for some reason my email didn't get any emails for the post reply thanks that all helps I think I'll go with a 9mm first and I don't like the p226 but I've only ever shot about six diffrent handguns which are all very diffrent I like the cz shadow though and also 1911s but egro and balance and a good trigger for follow up shots is really what matters to me

Then you've answered your own question. Get the SP-01 Shadow. 1911s are excellent, IMHO, for ergos and balance but are best in .45.
1911s in 9mm need a combination of the proper mags, feed ramp polish and luck to run trouble free.
The Walther PPQ and, of course, the Glock should be in your consideration also, along with the M&P series.

Own both. Had an HK45 DA/SA and an HK45 LEM, and kept the LEM. Amazing gun, awesome trigger, IMHO. I like my .40cal 226, but not remotely as much as my HK. The HK's one of my few 'keepers', while the SIG's on the EE. Used to shoot 1911s, but since I bought the HKs, my 1911s are also long gone.

imo build quality on hks are much better than sigs. they have a more durable finish on the metal., and i just cant get past how crappy sig recoil assemblies are.

i got a p30 for the ergos, practiced on one of the hardest triggers imo and now can shoot basically anything reasonably well ( for me :)). hk45/45c/p30 ergos>sig ergos but of course thats my opinion. my 45c shoots amazingly well, easy to control for rapid fire/follow up shots. hk double actions are brutal and really make you focus on trigger control/grip. I agree that the lem triggers are nice to shoot.

i shoot sigs very accurately with minimal focus/ effort, probably because their triggers are so much nicer than hks. i cant stand their finish ie the lack of durability on their finish. after a few hundred rounds it looks beat up.( not just the barrel, but the rail area, the underside of the slide and the area the decocker makes contact with the frame are areas that wear too easily imo. they also dont feel as good in my hands and recoil a lot stiffer than hks.

Sig fanboys: go easy on me , the above is just my personal experience :)

Weird... sig Sauer Nitro finish is very durable. So does their bead blasted stainless. As for Qc, both show some tooling marks inside the slide. I would say they are pretty equal. Coming from a guy who own 3 sigs and 3 HK.

Well im probably going to go with a 9mm for now I really did the p226 and I'm not sure what hk offers for 9mm that's similar. Just cost of shooting and getting better at shooting with a 9mm before I jump up two a 45.

i have found the opposite. Where the decocker meets the frame, the finish has worn off and i don't even use my Mk25 that often. most of the reviews i've seen have said the same thing. Is the Mk25 a good pistol? Absolutely; definitely in the same league as H&K. But I wouldn't say the finish is as durable. Not by a long shot.

Rubbing a metal part against anot her metal part will cause some finish wear. I don't think there's a way to avoid that beside not using your pistol.

both are reliable guns. I find the 226's are weighted perfectly and help keep the 9mm rounds on target. the hk45s these days come with adjustable backstraps which makes them more versatile. price these days are in favour of the hk's, unless you go for a basic entry sig 226. if you can, pick up both and see for yourself

I have a HKPL30 ans like the pistol. If the HK45 is still an option, an alternative in 9mm with almost the same engineering is worth studying before making your decision. You are comparing two fine pistols. I do not have a P226 yet. It's juste a matter of time and budget for me. Have fun choosing.

HK's are notorious for their not so good triggers(with lots of versions of bad triggers). Not a fan of plastic myself. Good luck finding parts for HK's in Canada. Hk can't even bother giving Canadians a vp9 with the threaded barrel(which I was actually interested in). Small outfit production wise, recently on the verge of bankruptcy. Not to be all negative on HK's, it is what it is, just sayin'.

Can't go wrong with Sig, great triggers, well made, durable and accurate. Did I mention all metal?

Yeah I'm pretty set on the p226 just don't know what model though there's lots of models and I like the m25 and the scorpion don't know if there is any mechanical diffrence or just the finish. Cabelas has the m25 on for around 1200 dollars I'm wondering if there any other p226 options around that price point what would be a better choice.

The HK45 has a better SA trigger than the regular P226 trigger; the DA triggers to me are more or less the same. I've not tried the SRT so I can't comment on how it compares. The HK45 has been well-tested for durability, and the all-metal vs. polymer argument died in the 1980s. Have you owned both or just going on what you've read online?

Stainless, buy once, cry once. 14 and change plus tax-man. Crafm has got em in 9, rare, usually see 40. Srt, night sights, short reach trigger, rosewoods, it's got it all.

Don't rule out the P226 Extreme. It is about the same price point, and comes with SigLite Night Sights, a Short Reset Trigger, Hogue G10 grips and other features.
