P226 Vs. P220 Sig's

I don't think there is any major difference other than grip dimension, mag capacity(7 or 8 for the 220. in 45acp) and on some models the euro heel mag release. Im a 226 guy in .40 and now 357sig(wow, huge blast).

Note the 226's wider frame above the trigger, to accommodate the double stack mags.

The 220 can be had in 9mm and Lever Arms had one, might still. The grip is narrower, but longer and makes it easy to hold onto. The .45 220 is a bit bigger and you will see the differance when you compare the locking block to the 9mm 226 one.

If you lay them side by side the 220 has a slightly steeper angle between the grip and slide. Thickness at the rear below the hammer ( ie beaver tail area). Grip area has a slightly different curve to it from the side profile. 226 has more of a curve. Oh ya and I don't think you ever see a 220 with an external ejector. Older or german 226's have interal like 220 and newer from Exeter have external.
