P38 info and price check please with pics

HI fella's I have just acquired a Walther P38. I know nothing about these firearms and any help would be appreciated. Any info and value would be great as I am not sure whether I will be keeping it.

Mauser Built in late May/early June of '44. I would say $800 with the holster. Would need to see if the locking block matches too.

Nice Pistol:

byf 44 (Mauser Obendorf 1944) u letter suffix, indicates May/June 1944 production.

byf 44's are some of the more common P38's out there and don't have many of the early war variations that add to value. The pistol alone is worth $450-650 any day of the week. The holster is worth about $250-450 depending on how you try to sell it.

They are almost worth more as seperate pieces, but it is a crime to break up the pair.

I'm positive the holster is a repro and not worth to much, but still looking for a solid figure on price for the gun itself.

Holster is repro. If pistol is all matching (check the locking block) then $700 for the pistol and $100 for the repro holster makes $800 like I said in my first post.

Repro holster would drop the overall price. As mentioned if you are a bargin hunter you can find a pistol in similar condition for as low as $450 but someone might pay a premium price of $700 but I think max $650.

That repro holster looks great in the pics. They start at about $40 and for a nice aged copy you might be able to get $100.

X2 actually, I think your assessment is better than mine.

I just sold my January 1944 Cyq, P-38 yesterday with 2 spare NATO P-1 magazines for $550.00. A repro holster can be purchased for $38.00 from Pacific Canvas and leather.
