P99 or USP?

i've owned both but in 9mm...

of the 2 the p99 is a little bit cheaper, because of the design of the P99's grip it fits very well and feels lighter than the USP. Personally of the 2 i think i would go P99 because it comes std /w adjustable rear sights and adj front sights (extra sight blades) you can mess /w the combination till it shoots just the way you want.

the USP because it doesn't have the adj back strap has a 'fatter' grip, and a rough texture on the grip (USPs were designed to be shot /w gloves on i guess), but the USP does feel beefier.

both goes bang and are really good guns....

I take it you like those type of mag releases ?

I have owned both P99s and USPs and while the P99 fits better, I like the way the USP shoots moreso than the Walther. Also, I know firsthand that Walther Warranty department sucks the big one :-( Not sure how HK is in that department though.

If you are not stuck on one of those two guns, I would sooner go with a Sig, Beretta, Glock, or XD...

I don't own the P99 but according to what I read on various message boards, the USP is a FAR more reliable gun.

I've owned a 9 and a 40 USP. I love them. Tough and accurate, plus there are lots of different sights for you to try out. If you can get a Custom Sport with the Match trigger and adjustible sights.

HK for sure...

more accurate, reliable, trigger, sights, better fit and finish. etc........ Only advantage of the P99 is the size.

Whats so wrong about the P99?

Hate it or love it. I like the backstraps on my P99 but found it innacurate compared to others pistols I own so that's why I sold it.

And what if i was to compare an HK USP and a SIG P226 in .40?

The reason i ask is the pistol ill buy will probably used in IPSC

I would still say Hk. People who shoot the Sig would say Sig, etc....
HK USP was originally built as a .40. The 9mm came after, which is usually the opposite of hwo mainstream companies R & D.

cause i like .40

And according to stormbringer, its the most popular caliber in IPSC, i tought there might be a reason for that

.40 is the most balanced cal for IPSC, if you aren't shooting production. If you are then 9mm is the choice.

All that said, don't buy any pistol for IPSC without having a chance to try the model of gun out. The difference in calibres is less important than the differences in feel and fit and what suits YOU for shooting.

The reason 40 is the most popular is its the cheapest, lightest calibre that can make major. Its a fraction the cost to reload (or buy) ammo for compared to any other "major" cal. options. And only a hair more expensive than 9mm.

The reason being is that the cost of ammo if you are into IPSC in any meaningful way is going to exceed the cost of whatever pistol you choose to shoot.

So to summarize. Try as many pistols as you can, with an understanding of what ISPC shooting is like (at least watch a match). THEN buy the pistol that "feels" the best to you and that you shoot the best with.

USP is my choice as it can switch functions from S/A to D/A, It has a nice recoil to it with its design, and holds on target well.Did I mention it looks cooler too!!

Either will be fine but there are three more important questions to ask yourself.

1. how does it fit and feel in your hand?
2. how does it fit and feel in your hand?
3. how does it fit and feel in your hand?
