Pac-Nor barrels

DO NOT encourage Chris to use any sort of "creative solution". You will be doing him no favors. Most especially if you then trumpet across the internet how he did you a favor.
Those who want to do their own importing can certainly do so and even do so legally. It's not actually that difficult.
Just keep in mind that the reduction of restrictions is counterproductive to many established Canadian businesses who would as soon see enforcement increased. Do you think Wholesale Sports would like to see export restrictions eased so they would have to compete with US suppliers? With this in mind the proper course is to follow legal guidelines or failing that, keep quiet about it! Regards, Bill.

"...Is it possible?..." Anything is possible with enough time and money. However, barrels from the U.S. require their export permit that takes a Canadain import permit to get. Plus U.S. manufacturers require a U.S. exporter's licence. This isn't the same thing as the export permit. It's just a licence to export.
There are several Canadian barrel makers who are making top notch rifle barrels. Most of 'em are better than U.S. made barrels.

Leeper why are you so worried about wholesale sports' profits? do you work for them or something? Less restrictions are always better for us..the shopper; i for one could care less if poor wholesale sports suffers a bit, their prices are hardly what i would call decent. As for hurting other canadian establishments, maybe it's time they started offering better services then.

I'm not out to get anyone in trouble.
I was just wondering what was involved in getting them to Canada. Import/export licenses required.
Thank you.

watsknew,
A bit of clarification for the chronically obtuse.
My point is that there are those who benefit most by keeping import/export restrictions in place or better yet, making them worse. This makes it less likely private individuals will buy from US outlets so this potential source of competition is eliminated.
With this being the case, it's entirely possible they might want to, for want of a better term, rat on those who do not follow the rules. Hence, my admonition about legalities and the following thereof.
Canadian businesses are, in this case, taking advantage of restrictions to increase profit margins. This is the modern version of "free enterprise"; you use governmental regulation to your benefit. I'm not saying this is right or wrong; only that it IS.
I personally would like to see these regulations rescinded but, given their support by the business community, this is unlikely. So, we work with it as we will. Regards, Bill

Leeper...makes perfect sense now..it looked as though you were pro restrictions to help canadian businesses..but i see you're saying that the businesses are probably pro restriction because it benefits them...Thanks for the clarification!

Exactly why we pay more for scopes than yankees do.

Has anyone brought a Pac-Nor prefit barrel into Canada?
Is it possible?
Thanks.

I have a barrel blank on order from them right now. I emailed them first to get all thier required info for the import certificate. I then applyed for the certificate, when it was approved I ordered the barrel and scanned and attached the import certificate to my order. I received an email from Pac-Nor a week ago that said it was being processed. Fairly simple process if your patient.
