The Pach Grips on my S&W 39-2 seem to have hardened with age  ...They no longer have the rubbery feel they once did.Any ideas as to how I can soften them up ?

odd...mine of my .45 are over 10 years old..still the same...you get any weird solvents or oils on them? I have found my grips pretty durable..

Well,I e-mailed Pach this AM asking for help.I doubt they will replace them as their Warranty is limmited to one year.
I'll let you guys know.I was hoping I wasn't alone and there was an easy fix like," spray on ### and it'll soften them.

Pach. Service Dept.got back to me today stating they recommend using Armoral on the grips as they tend to dry up otherwise.
I had already done that and they did look great but instead of a rubbery feel,I got slippery, hard grips....:( Not too great for Controle !!

Would soaking them in brake fluid do anything to help? The additives in there are meant to condition rubber and keep it supple... ie: brake pistons and seals etc.

It might be worth a shot... just don't get any brake fluid on anything painted as it will eat through it.

I've used brake fluid on my motorcycle tires when they got hard on my old bike. It would soften them up, but they woudl wear alot faster as the rubber would be alot weaker. If it's that or nothing, i'd give it a try though...

Rather than soaking them in the fluid though, I would put some fluid on a rag and wipe them down.
