Just a note for all those who dry fire and use snap caps.
Awhile back I needed some replacement snap caps and while I generally like more solid pieces, snap caps are not something I'm overly considered with. The Pachmayrs were the only ones in the particular store so picked them up.
The problem with the Pachmayr shotgun dummies is that they are plastic bodied. The rim is therefore also plastic and gets chewed by the extractor and retainer tabs in a pump action shotgun.
As such, I've had one crack about half inch length-wise, which subsequently caused the cap piece to stick out(ejected by the internal spring) while both were still in the mag tube.
I haven't used these much and don't spend my days in front of the mirror dry firing
so that is a testimate of how cheap they are made.
I believe they would last a bit longer in a SXS with normal use and in used by dropping in the on a pump(rather than into the mag tube).
Ideally for dry firing, reload, and etc practice, one should either get some strong metal ones (AZoom...) or use old birdshot cartridge hulls, fill them with something(sand), and seal it back down.
