Pachmayr finger groove grips for 1911 question.

Anybody know what the medallion is made of? Can it be polished or is it plated which would be ruined?

I've got the Pachmayr 1911 grips with the wood panels surrounding the rubber finger grooves, and those medallions are plastic.

If you are talking about the American legends I think they're called I believe they are made differently.

These are weighted with a metal panel molded into the rubber, where the AL ones are not.

I can't tell if these medallions are part of that metal backing though. They definitely seem like metal to me.
