Personally, the Hogue grips feel better. They have a softer feel not hard like the pachmayr.

Check them both out at a shop to see which feels better for you.

I agree..one of my buddies just put some Hogue grips on his Norc..they're really soft and confortable compared to Pach's whose rubber is much firmer.

thx guys. that's what i was thinking. i like my Pachmayr grips, but they're a bit plasticy feeling.

My biggest beef with Pachmayr gripper grips is that the finger grooves were spaced too widely for me--Hogues fit much better for me (at least the K/L frame ones--N frames aren't as good a fit for me). They also have nice palm swell and (as noted upthread) are a little "grippier". I used Pachmayr Presentation grips on my 686 for years and found them OK, although the covered backstrap increased trigger reach more than I liked.

does anybody know where i can purchase Hogue grips in the Vancover area? is installation a no-brainer, or a professional deal?

thx

I was never a fan of any of the "finger groove" grips, no matter the maker. I do prefer Pachmayrs over any of the other synthetic grips out there, however. They're classic "presentation" grips just seem to fit my hand very well, although, I have to say, I also find the Goncalo Alves target grips that came with many of the older S&W wheel guns just as comfortable, although, the Pachmayr's gave the shooter much better control, especially in wet weather or hot weather where you're sweating.

Hand size and geometry differs for everybody. Your best bet would be to try both and pick the grip that feels the most comfortable to you. Good luck with it!

thanks guys. yea, about the installation... i unscrewed my Pachmayr grip from one of my guns, and sure enough it's easy

naver handled a revolver with Pachmayr grips, but I hate them on semis; they make the grip feel 2x the size...

Hogue all the way!
