Who makes the best padded soft cases for hunting rifles at a somewhat decent price? I swear, I must have gone through 100 of these over the years, almost every different brand out there. I have a few from the 60's or so that are bullet proof but most of the newer ones on the market don't seem to last more than a year or two and then the zippers are gone or the stitching falls apart :(

Just looking for opinions as I need to replace 4-5 right away...

Boyt ...

Although not "cheap", I have one that is at least 35 years old, another 25 and two or three more that are 15+ . Also a couple of soft, padded "takedown" shotgun cases that have sttod-up extremely well to a lot of travel... both are about 20 years old. Cabela's and
Bass Pro both have Boyt "clones".

I prefer the Levi's cases for my rifles. Out of the 6 cases I have, 2 are 13 years old and the zipper finally let go on 1 case. Thick soft padding inside. Heavy Cordoru outter skin. See link below.

Mine are all black, and a buddy of mine has 2 in the Green Camo model.

Reasonably priced too.

I agree with Boyts and Levy's - they are not cheap - but they are well built. Boyts I feel is likely the best case going.

I have several older Koplin armoured type from about 5-10 years ago that have held up quite well as well as they had models that fit larger rifles. I cant speak for their present stuff tho.

I was looking at the Plano Protector HS Series. Its a hybrid case, soft with moulded impact areas. Heavy duty steel zipper and looks tough as hell. I think the price was around $40.

We carry ones by TAG, Blue Force Gear and Maxpedition.

TAG carries an Unlimited Lifetime Warranty - if it breaks, wears out, melts, falls apart etc. they will fix or replace it for free. (that doesn't just apply to the stitching like other "lifetime" warranties)

I have a Kolpin with a very heavy green canvas-like outer, thick padding, soft quilted interior, heavy duty leather trim on the exterior, and (I think), brass fittings These cases are made in a variety of sizes for both rifles and shotguns. For a soft case, I would rate them as one of the best, but I think they are up in the $100 range.

Top quality Canadian made custom cases. I ordered a 20" bolt gun and AR case based on the case linked below, but you can specify any combination of size and features:

ww w.marksmansupplies.com/arcase.html

FINAL CASE ORDER:
---------------------
-AR style case 44" (or near 44" depending on fit) large case, 39" (or near 39" depending on fit) smaller attached with handle
-4x diagonal pockets
-1x Bellowed pocket inside large case over barrel for cleaning materials
-1x Bellowed pocket inside small case over barrel for cleaning materials
-1x cleaning rod holder inside large case
---------------------

Turned out very well. Padding is 1/2" closed cell foam in the case walls and in the partition between rifles.
