I am sure that this has been covered before, sorry.
What type of paint is the best to use on a USGI Stock?( I am planning on black)
Any special prep that should be done?
What has worked for you guys, or more importantly what has not worked?

Thanks in advance.

-First clean the stock.

-Do all your filling (selector cutout, chips, dings, etc) and sanding.I do a final sanding with a Scotchbrite pad.

-Mask off stock ferrule and sling mount.

-Clean/degrease the stock again.

-Use a fiberglass appropriate primer. When dry do a light scuff with a clean scotchbrite pad.

-Spray base coat.let dry at least 24 hours.

-Clearcoat. I use Excel Colorvision Matte clearcoat.

Surface prep is the MOST IMPORTANT step!!!

SKBY.

Thanks guys , exactly what I was looking for.
Sorry I forgot to mention that it is a fibreglass stock.
Painting is not my strongpoint so I am not going to attempt anything fancy like a camo job like some of you guys have done, I am going to try a Black finish.
I have seen some examples here on CGN and they look great,( the camo jobs also look great but I fear they are beyond my ability) not like the rinco wood stock.
I did refinish the original stock it looks pretty good now but the wood is compressing where the trigger group is contacting the stock and I can already feel a difference in how tight it locks up and the gun is only three months old.

For paint, try the Krylon Camoflage series of paints at Can Tire, Wall Mart, etc. - nice flat finish and top it with a shot of low-gloss clear.
