I'm trying to paint stip the mags for my CZ858, it's one tough paint. Anybody else done it?

I've been using polystripper so far and it's really slow...

I tried "paint strippa" I think it was called, its like a gel in which you leave it on the paint and rub it off with steel whool and or a brush.
I let that thing soak for hours and some came off, but most of it didn't. I also did the same for the mags and I got some of the metal to show, but not all. I tried steel whool and multiple soakings with no improvement.

In the end, I washed it extremley well, did a nice scrub down with the steel whool and then painted it with engine heat paint. I did 3 generous coats and then baked it in the oven for about an hour.
In the end it turned out pretty damn good, here is a picture.

Point being, you don't have to remove all of the paint to get a good paint job going on these things.

nice .

i have shorten mags before and i had the mags on red hot element (not torch), the damn paint wont burn , one tuff paint .

so therefore the best protection your rifle can have is the original paint so i would do what you did , just lightly sand/steel wool and paint it black .
