Hi guys, I wanna paint my rifle. I went to my auto parts store and got some paint today, I tryed it on a POS front shroud and the paint is falling off. I want a good paint that will last. I went on youtube and all I found was kids spray painting there toy airsoft guns with cheap paint. Any help would be great.

P.S if you have painted your rifle link a pic

i think im going to go with kyrlon.

This link is at the top but its worth a read ( nothing to do with kyrlon but good to know)

I will also spit it out and say that Im going to try and do a red tiger paint job on this 10/22. Its going to be straight outta call of duty. Sure sure its tacky but I want something fun. All my other firearms are black on black or O/E/M.

I agree prep is a must, but I was doing some reading on the install of the arc angle stock and you can put it in the oven to help fit it.
So I guess I will try the stock out of the box and fit it all together, if the fit is good paint it then maybe bake it in the oven for abit ? What do you all think about putting it in the oven ?

It doesn't matter how it's painted, as long as you like it.... The Sons of Guns guys did a pretty neat paint job on a Kriss they pimped out for the Total Recall movie... Must admit, after seeing that, I never thought about painting the barrel a bright vibrant color. On their build you could seeing through the vent holes on the rails, so it really popped.

Not sure where I'm going with this.... Lol

dont be embarassed man, nothing wrong with what you are planning, as long as you like it. If is plastic, prep is minimal, break the gloss with a mid grade sand paper, like 220 or 320, clean with soap and water, wet sand with 400, paint away witha good plastic paint like krylon or you could apply an epoxy primer and wet sand that for the ultimate bond. If its wood, use a good primer, 2 - 4 coats, lightly wet sanding with 320 between coats, then any good quality paint, just be sure to paint while the primer is still "open" as in dont sand and then paint 3 days later, Wont get into the chemistry of it, but the sanding needs to be within 12 hours of paint for a solid bond. And use a pre paint prep wipe if you want the best results, but its expensive, so unless you have it laying around, dont bother.

Hope that helps, post some pics when you get it done
