Hallo to all.
I got me a mark III today (Heavy Bubba'ed)
There is no way I can restore this but it would make a gr8 sporter.
One problem I have is that the Idiot that had it before me painted a perfectly good wood stock: Green!! FCUKing green!!!
Now I started sanding this down and dont have any power tools so got to do it by hand, problem is I am way to lazy. Is there a quick way to get rid of green paint?

Paint stripper

I'd use paint stripper with a medium-fine steelwool pad and Nitrile gloves.
apply some on a spot, wait about one minute then go softly over the spot in small circles. Rinse the pad, apply more and go again.
This will avoid taking the cartouches out with the paint.
Good luck and use a well-ventilated area.
PP. :)

Marks stamped into the wood by the govt, such as the Canadian property mark, stock size,(B,S.L.), serial number, and any other markings put there when it was made. Plus unit markings.

As soon as I figure out how to post pic's I'll show you some before and after shot's.
I sanded the fore end tonight and will stain it tomorrow. Still have the but-stock to sand down. It has a rubber recoil pad.
And to take the but-stock off I need to get rid of this pad, how do I do that?

Without seeing the recoil pad, this is just a guess.

There should/might be 2 screws holding it on, one at the top and one at the bottom, about 1/2" in from each. If you can't see them, they may be hidden under the rubber. Gently probe the pad until you see a small slit. Under the slit is the screw. Remove the screws and viola', the pad should come off. May require a bit of persuasion.

If there's no screws at all, its glued on. Find the seam between the pad and the stock. You may need to strip/scrape some paint off to do this. Tap a chisel or a sharp scraper into the seam and work the pad off.

You should post a picture of this. There is a collector Enfield that has a rubber butt pad. I believe it was issued to the Northern Rangers?

You might be messing with a collectors item here.

Thought he said he had a Mk111. Never new they were issued to the Rangers or that EAL used Mk111's? Not a flame just thought I might have missed something.

SKS This gun n bought yesterday and has been bubbed beyond repair! but I almost had a heart attack, it's got all matching serial numbers!!!!
A real pity that someone could bubba such a gun.
Another question: Where can I find sporter stocks (wood not synthetic)
And what will it cost?
BTW I got me a 8mm Mauser from vally arms.
What ar you guy's thoughts on the 8mm?

Try a hair dryer on high or a heat gun to soften the glue and then pry it off.Or you can use a box cutter blade that is very thin and try and slice it off. Just watch out if you you try and pry it off with a screwdriver or such as that may leave some nice gouges in the stock. And if you still can't get it off use a saw (he he) or buy another butt stock not that hard to come by.

fcuk!!!!
This recoil pad is glued to the stock.
Anyone know how to get the hard plastic part loose?

It will depend what glue was used. I'd tape the stock next to the pad to protect it, then take a sharp utility knife and make a careful incision where the pad meets the stock and gradually try to introduce a little toluene or lacquer thinner into the slit to soften the adhesive. Go slowly! If it looks like contact cement was used, there are specific thinners for that. Hopefully a little solvent, followed by a little prying with the blade, may work it loose.
