Painting a Laminate Stock

I ran a search and got some answers that were close but not quite what I needed to know.

I'm looking to pain a laminate stock on a Remington. I'm sure there are people here who have experience doing this. Do you sand it down first or just paint right over top? I'm intending to use a very flat paint to reduce glare and reflection. Or will I just destroy a perfectly good stock by doing stuff myself?

Painting a laminate stock would be the same as painting any other stock. Preparation is key. This includes sanding, priming, etc.

However, why would you paint something like that? Sell the laminate, buy a plain jane wood one, and paint that.

Good point. Where is a good place to buy wood stock in Canada?

I'd paint the laminate. Plywood takes paint just fine, and I believe a laminate stock is generally more dimensionally stable and more resistant to the effects of moisture than most straight woods.
