Painting an SKS

Alright so I bought a basic SKS a lil bit ago. I have ordered some Tapco parts (stock and vertical grip). Now I plan to install those and then paint some camo onto the stock/rifle. The stock is synthetic and I got the black paint job on the SKS itself. I plan on putting a scope on it too and painting that also. Any tips before I paint on top of it? I would assume that I should remove all gun oil to make the paint stick better. How would it stick to the synthetic stock/scope. What kind of paint works best? Do I need to sand any of it or does cleaning it with some solvent work just as good? I've never done this so its more to experiment. So any info would be greatly appreciated.

I painted this one with Krylon paint from a $9 airbrush - just sprayed paint from the can into the airbrush pot and then onto the stock (wiped it down with alcohol first)
It was more of an experiment than anything, before painting my M14, so I didn't spend anytime with a patterns or stencils (and it shows :p)
I haven't used the gun much since, but I think it will hold up well - easy to repaint if needed.

Good (see edit above)
I don't think I'd bother trying Krylon on the metal though, there are other products that work better for that - lots of threads around on that subject.
