Painting/Coating gun parts

Just wondering if anyone has recommendations for painting gun parts aside from spray can crap.
For example, I'm looking at buying a skeleton charging handle from brownells for my sr22 but it only comes in silver and I would want to paint/coat it black with something that won't wear off.

Everything wears off. But soak the handle in solvent, and then spray with numerous very light coats of Krylon flat black.
