Painting Elcan Rubber Armour

Hey guys,

I want to paint my Elcan's black rubber armour green. I guess I'll need a coat of white before and then some olive. Can anyone suggest what paint to use and how to make a dureable finish for it? And as for taking the armour off the scope, I simply have to remove the single screw, the armour is what the screw is holding in place right? I just want to be sure before I commit any mistakes!

[Wrong Way]

Before you paint it...try this:

Take the armour off, and get a pot of water boiling on the stove, add RIT fabric dye in the colour of your choice, then submerge. I have had good results dyeing plastic and rubber with rit...and if doesn't work, THEN paint it.

Thats sounds brilliant! How much time do I leave it in there, is there a chance it could damage the rubber?

I doubt it would damage the rubber. Leave it in for 5 minutes, remove, rinse, check for colour....repeat until it's where you want it to be.

Well, tinting didn't work. I'm gonna have to resort to painting this bad boy. Anyone got any advice on how to make a dureable job?
