I am restoring a #4 Enfield and finally found a top and center barrel band. Problem is the finish is well worn. I have heard in the past that some have used a spray paint that comes close to the original Suncote finish. I just can't remember what it was called.

Only some British refurbs used Suncorite. What model Enfield are you restoring?
Spray bomb paint will not look right IMHO.

The paint is called "British Black" Though I don't know if it is still available

Now a story about that, I located a nice No4 for a person whoi wanted one. The suncorite had a few scratches, so I loaned him a can ot it to touch up those areas

THE BLOODY IDIOT wire brushed all the suncorite off and repainted the entire rifle with the spray can of the stuff! To add insult to injury , he then had it drilled and tapped for a scope:eek:
Obviouly the paint is NOT as durable as the suncorite.

Of course he never returned the can either.
