Painting front sight

Would it be a sacrilege to paint my front sight on my Colt Gold cup NM ? it's black on black and target acquisition on a black target is kinda terrible

Or should I just swap them out for something smarter

It's your gun do what you want.

Some I paint and some I replace. They are my guns so I do what I want with them

The sights on that gun are weird, idk if I could swap them out

That's why many pistol target shooters use a 6 o'clock hold. Bring the front and rear up till they touch the bottom of the black and fire a round. POA and POI are not the same, but it makes for accurate shooting with enough practice.
