I have just bought some Krylon Fusion to paint a couple of stocks. Does anyone know how it works on barrels and actions??
Also, does anyone have the part number for Krylon's clear non gloss sealer top coat??

I used Tremclad on a 1911 and it has held up very well. After all, you can put it on your garden furniature and it sits out there for years. Make sure you clean the metal well and finish it with a clear matte expoxy spray. It works great.

Thanks for the input guys but, not much help!!! I already have the Krylon (which I was recommended to get) and I need to know if anyone has used it on barrels or actions and, if so, with what results.

there was some extensive conversation on krylon in some of the m14 threads in battlerifle forum. think they were using it on the whole firearm.

Yes, it will work on barrels, but you have to keep your solvents off the painted surfaces when cleaning your guns, or your paint wont last long.
I've used Krylon on both stocks and metals, and have cleaned it off both without much hassle. bowflage is less of a headache on barrelled actions IMHO, but doesnt last as long as krylon unless you clearcoat it. But than again, neither do the seasons out here in Ontario, so I have been painting my guns every 3-4 months anyways...
Make sure you use a good thinner to clean all of the surfaces first, and your good to go.

We had a couple threads going over in the hunting section about painting guns in the last while...
