Painting Stock

I've done a few stocks in the summer when I can spray outside, but I don't have the luxury of a garage especially a heated one to paint a stock in in the winter. I want to paint the stock on my new m14 shorty, anyone have any suggestions as to how not to stink up my house/basement or other alternatives?

very cool video. I've got no problem camo painting them, I did 7 this summer and very pleased with the results, I'm just trying to figure out how to do it indoors without stinking up the house.

what you can is get a good fume mask first off safety then seal the room that you are painting in and have a fan pointing at a open window to reduce the toxic levels.Have a small room heat to decrease time.That should make it good to go i have painted in my basement a few times and got ##### at once. Then i did what i said above and its all good.

i used to use a mask and 2x pedistal fans when painting inside in the winter..

seal off the room, open a window.. have one fan right at the window pointing out.. have the other on the other side of the room so its pushing air at your painting spot ( and towards the open window ) ..

worked a treat for me

My brother in-law is in model building and here's how he do it.

He has one of those box fan ( paid 5 or 10 buck on sale or next to nothing at garage sale) put a 25" x 25" furnace filter (a $3 item and it fits nicely) and have a card box house everything inside with the open near the top.

He then place the unit on a board (particle board / plywood or whatever you have around the house) lay over the kitchen stove under the rangehood.

The furnace filter trap all the paint mist / particles while the rangehood act as an exhaust fan discharge to the outside, I think this is the next best thing you can have inside the house without breaking your wallet.

It works pretty good just make sure the furnace filter in place on the suction side of the fan to keep the blades clean and the discharge port on the card box is facing directly to the rangehood where is filter is (and don't forget to turn the rangehood blower on High).
