Pair of Gold Plated Engraved Smith Wesson 44 Russians

Absolutely beautiful! I have a very nice, mechanically perfect, blued one that's my wilderness carry pistol. The bluing has worn and faded and there's some corrosion in the bore (as to be expected) but that's only cosmetic. I believe that .44 Russian is the most powerful revolver cartridge one can find in the double action revolvers.

At the last Rock Island Auction I bid on a beautiful S&W 1st. Mod. DA. The auction house estimated $1200-$1700. I bid $2500. which was my max and once you factor in the exchange rate with the US dollar to the Canadian peso, add in the buyers premium and shipping fees, you'd be looking at over $4000. CAD. Needless to say, I was outbid but there were a lot of those single action revolvers in the auction, though not as fancy as that one. The last fancy one I tried for went for over $7000. CAD. Too rich for this old retiree.
