PAL and divorce

I had almost exactly the same scenario, except we were not officially married (We were together for 9 years). It did slow the application process down and added another step to the process. The RCMP asked me to write them a letter fully explaining the situation, they approved my PAL/RPAL a couple of months later. The whole process took like 5 months, other then the wait, no real hassle from the fuss. good luck

My head is going to explode. Hoser-eh says she will be contacted, and RIGHTLY SO. WTF???
Then he says, if you shouldn't have firearms, you will be denied. Good jumping Heysuus Klist. Brainwashing is the incremental, imperceptible denial of oxygen, protein and sleep, resulting in the subject parroting the mantra of the oppressor.

Why in the name of all that is free should the government talk to your spouse , current, ex, or to be, about your having a gun?? And who, in that same flawed, failed, inept collection of power hungry silly servants is qualified to make that decision?

The gun registry, the licence process, the classification of firearms by restricted, prohibited and on-restricted is a shell game of the mightiest proportions, intended to convince the unthinking that the government is doing something effective about human nature. Blood gushes from my eyes when I read someone endorsing this crap as if it were proper and right. I hate to get down on a shooter, but lumping holy Klist, maybe some folks would better serve freedom if they took up curling.

My boyfriend went through the same worries about his ex-wife, but because she signed the application, they didn't even contact her.

And, I'm sure because of the divorce the man is now free to enjoy the hobby he's been meaning to pursue but couldn't because of said ex- wife :p

Similar situation with me. My PAL came up for renewal about a month after I was separated. She signed it and wasn't even contacted.

Go ahead and take care of business.

I am separated from my wife I didn't have a mailing address, or a signature from her only a phone number where she could be contacted. I didn't give her a heads up about a possible call from the OPP I sill got mine in the 45 day period (boy she was pissed)

you're not a criminal because you are going through a divorce. If she has no issues, neither will the CFC/RCMP. Also, in other cases... just because the x-spouse may have an issue, does not mean the CFC/RCMP will also.

Well I am still waiting for my PAL, but it has only been about 2 weeks.

I challenged the exam and passed with flying colours.

I lost the copy that she signed, so I got her to sign another copy and she is also my photo guarantor, the ex wife that is.

28 days after they received my application this is what I see.

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

I can honestly say this moment was greater than getting married, and will be cherished much longer than the marriage lasted.

No references were called, they did not call the ex or my girlfriend.
