Hi All
my PAL finally came in the mail, but attached to it is a piece of paper w/ license conditions on it and it says I have to show BOTH if requested. All it has on the paper copy is the same information that is on the laminated PAL. I asked a buddy of mine and he doesn't have this. Does anyone else, or is this new?

thanks

I got that when I renewed (my license had lapsed) and I just chucked it away. As far as I know any restrictions to your license will be on the license itself.

Some here have talked to the CFC about it.

If you have no special conditions, you don't need to carry the piece of paper.

I do, only because I was able to cut and fold it into a nice little sheath for my card to help protect it from getting all scratched up when being put in and taken out of my wallet.

"Licenced Supervision" conditions were added to my son's Minor's Licence between the ages of 12 to 16yrs of age, that paper had to be carried as well. Once he turned 16, I applied to the CFC to have that condition removed, now it's the usual "let us know if you moved within 30 days" condition.

I sent RCMP a letter and they said :
As per the letter it is a requirement to have the paper with you. If
you would like further information on this please contact our office and
request to speak to the Chief Firearms Office for your province.

so i guess even though mine doesn't really say anything other than standard conditions...i have to keep it.

Call the CFO and ask for the reason for that in writing. Since there is no valid reason for it with no conditions attatched they will not give that in writing... and will state you do not need it. When they say that ask for that in writing.

The form says "If you have special conditions attached to your licence" you need to carry the paper because the special conditions form part of your licence. Then below that there is a space where SPECIAL CONDITIONS will be noted.
If you don't have any special conditions applicable to your licence don't carry a blank piece of paper around with you.

shh.... before they get the idea to actually make us keep the blank paper as well to make it legal :p

I still carry the stupid blank piece of paper... after 2 years in my wallet it looks like a flattened spitball.... can't read sh*t on it (even though it's blank).

I won't carry it much longer... cause there won't be anything left...ha ha ha!

I now carry the blank piece of paper.
didn't for the first few years til I read it.
not having it might be all the grounds gung ho needs to pinch my iron, and at this point I'm not giving anyone an opening. ;)

do i need to carry my license with my if I locked all my firearms at home?

No you do not need to carry your licence if your gunz are at home. Only if you are taking them out, buying ammo etc. I just renewed mine and got the same letter of conditions. I have no conditions so i threw the stupid paper away. All info and conditions should be on the card , why have a stupid piece of paper when there already is a card??

it is to allow one day mass confiscations because you did not carry that useless blank piece of paper.

Sadly while it is a very stupid piece of paper.. I wouldn't put it past the asshats in "charge" to use that same thing against us :(

Another Special Condition is ATC....Authorization To Carry... if you have one of those it would be wise to have the paper with you. Why don't they just put it on the back of the RPAL. Just another layer of paperwork from what I can see. I have the paper with me at all times just in case, even though I have been advised it is not needed unless I have Special Conditions.
Welcome to CGN and the paper jungle that we find ourselves in......:runaway:
