Pal issued - can I start shopping?

Card hasn't arrived in the mail yet but found a couple sale items I'd like to pull the trigger on - when shopping online will having just my PAL # suffice? Or should I just take a deep breath and wait for the card to arrive in the mail?

most dealers will just need the number. For used sales, lots of people ask to see a picture of it so you may need to wait for it. Or you could get them to call in and verify it (will need the name as on the card, your card number, and the expiry... will be 5 years from now, on your birthday).

I bought my first gun within 5 minutes of getting off the phone and being told I was approved and given the number.
 
Most places I shopped at in Alberta were kind enough to show me objects after I said the PAL was in the mail. Shopping online might be different. For my first few experiences I chose to shop local in Edmonton at p&D, Mil-arm, and Cabelas. Yours will be here next week. Time for browsing and reading up on CGN>
 
And alternatively if you call, most sponsors will take your credit card number and hold the product until you get the card in the mail. It's less than 2 weeks to get.

First pistol I wanted was on crazy sale before I had my card


SFRC actually held on to it for the few weeks it took to arrive and honored the sale price when I finally received it.

A friend of mine put a deposit on a gun while waiting his PAL to show up. Once he got the card he went and paid and picked it up. That was a local purchase but like Noltz said, if you want to shop online call and do the same thing.
 
Shopping doesn't mean buying. You can do it any time. Most shops will hold a firearm for you with a sizeable deposit until your actual licence shows up. Mind you, there are some TO shops that seem to think you need a PAL just to handle a firearm.
 
they (My local gun store) wouldn't let me handle them until i get approved for my pal. i didn't mind, i thought that was fair.

If you put the PAL down on the glass, the dealer knows you're a qualified buyer. I think if you tell the dealer the PAL is on the way, most will give you their time. They all want to make a sale.
