hello
i am a newbie...just applied for my Pal Licence...
at what stage they call the references(within first 28 days or after?)

now i also heard that normally they dont call references or do a interview for PAL...they will do it if it is RPAL...

Can someone help me to get this figured out?

The 28 days is just a statutory waiting period. The CFP and/or the CFO might or might not attempt to contact your references, and - even if they do attempt to contact them - they might or might not make an attempt to do so during that first 28 days. 28 days is just a minimum waiting period - there is no maximum.

If you are really in a rush, some people believe it is a good idea to ask their references to contact the CFP directly (rather than waiting to be contacted). Such proactivity might or might not shorten or lengthen the amount of time the CFP and/or CFO will ultimately require to process your application.

YMMV

This worked for me. I received mine in less then 30 days and they were closed for a week during holidays. Wait 2 weeks then call and ask if all your info is ok and if your missing anything and if they say you are all good ask to have your interview. They just ask you all the same questions as on your application. then ask for your file number if you didn't get it online already and give it to your references to call in as soon as they can. A day after they spoke to my second reference they issued my card. They might not even contact your spouse. They didn't for me but she was my guarantor.

Hope this helps

Yes 9 weeks ....but the trick is after 7th week call and insist to speak directly to rcmp...they will approve u over the phone ...see they are so baked up that they wont work ur file until to make them pick ur file and look at.....worked for me
