Has anyone used the same person as a reference and a photo guarantor?

I just used the lady at the local drivers license place.(SGI) She took the photo and guaranteed it for me, I don't recall if they charged anything.

It does say that the guarantor must know you for at least a year.

I filled out my paperwork yesterday, you can use your reference as a photo guarantor (it says so on the paper) - they must also have known you for a minimum of 2 years.


I wonder if I can use my graduation photo, it asks for a solid colour background but the one used in my photo is slightly mixed. I was trying to avoid having to pay for a new photo somewhere

I just took my photo with a digital camera on a tripod with my back against a blank wall. Then I just shrank it down on the PC to the size they wanted and had one of my references sign it guaranteeing it was me

did you print it? or can this be done electronically ?

the photo has to be ORIGINAL, which means made for this purpose - can't use some other photo. it says so clearly. doesn't have to be passport-official, though. costco, drug stores, heck even maybe those photo booths at shopping malls.

I just went to the Local sobeys...15 bucks, and I had 2 photos in my hand in 5 minutes.

I went to WalMart and had my girlfriend take a picture of me against the white screen with my blackberry, then went to a photo kiosk and sent it via bluetooth. 10 minutes later I had my photos (3 of them) for $0.22 including tax.

Affixed the sticker to my picture and voila, done deal.


BTW - original to me does not sound like it has to be for this purpose, but rather not a photocopy of an image

I just printed mine out on picture stock with my Color laser.

As far as original they mean it cant be a photocopy.

For a renewal, I think YOU only have to sign it..not your guarantor

This has probably already been answered but I am too lazy to read the this thing over. I wanted to make sure I did the photo thing right so i called and double checked.

It can be your reference.
You print your name on the back of the photo. Don't sign.
The gurantor both prints and signs.
The photo has to show your shoulders and face, no hats or sunglasses.
It doesn't have to be a professional photo you can take it with a digital camera and cut your face out.

Yup I had my Dad take mine with my Didgi cam and printed it on Photo Paper Scaled to size. The CFC did not indicate there was a problem when I talked to them the other day.
