Got a question regarding this whole process. I just mailed it in this morning and recall another thread suggesting I visit their website to see when it's been received and input in their database.....

My questions is....what is the website? And how long should I wait to call the registry to get the information??

Any responses or suggestions are appreciated

cheers

It took them about a week to get mine up on the website - but your app will be dated the day they received it - so even if it takes a week it's still working towards your 28 days.

I called the day it arrived as well as several times within the first week and no one would go and check. Once it was up though I called and checked to make sure they had all my information and they transferred me to do my interview.

mine was processed in just over 28 days and i got the "interview" out of the way quickly. took basically 4 weeks plus a few to get past a weekend hump. but of course, now i gotta wait for the actual license to be printed and mailed to me. there's no way to find out your RPAL number until you get the paper. so even though mine was "assigned", i can't start ordering stuff online until i have the doc in my hand.

i hope you like waiting!!! i dunno, maybe take up knitting in the meantime, or put yourself into a coma.

I just recently got my Pal and RPAL and from the time they received it to the time I got my licence was about 8 weeks. I would definately recomend calling them as much as possible. I didnt and I think it slowed things down. Plus they wanted to talk to once of my referances but it ended up taking my referance 2 weeks to get ahold of them. She called several times but was alway on hold for quite some time over 30 min. Finaly one time it gave my referance the chance to leave a message for them to call back, they never called back. My referance just got luck one time and someone picked up the phone after about the 10th call.

But once it said it was approved on the website. It only took 8 days.

Not sure if any of that helps but it was my experience. The waiting sucks. I would take up BP&'s advice and take up knitting, but the coma is probably a better idea. Atleast you can dream about guns rather than kitting gun sweaters ;)

Hello,

Heres how the process is going for me:

1. PAL/RPAL recived in NB on May 10th, BUT, did not go onto the website until the 17th...this is when the 28 day clock starts...NOT from when it gets to the mailroom. I was told this 20 minutes ago on the phone by someone out there.

2. Have your references call in....I called in Friday to "check the status" and the person said why not do your interview now....so I did.

3. I also asked if I could have my references call in...she said yes. I asked them to call today.....make sure they have the name on your application as well as your file # when they do call in.

4. I called NB about 20 mins ago to check to see if they had called even though I knew they did "just to make sure". I was told that they had both called in and my licence has been approved.

5. I was also told that WEEKENDS count in the 28 day waiting period.

6. So....I suggest you call in just to check on things but remember that the 28 day clock does NOT start until they start to process your paperwork. If you need that date ask them.

Hope this helps,

Coach

Not in my case. Mine arrived on the 6th - registered mail, sig required. I called on the 7th, the 10th and 11th. They told me each time to wait up to 2 weeks for it to appear online. Finally gave up and it appeared online on the 13th but was dated May 6th (which is the date it arrived). So in my case they dated it the day it was received.

However, mine required a signature on delivery - which might explain why?

Another example of someone at CFC that should know better giving wrong advice.
The 28 day wait provision is found in the Regulations to the Firearms Act and that time starts from date the application is made. This is the date received (rather than the date mailed) and this is the practice the CFC follows.
When the applications finally appear online they always show the date of receipt by CFC.

Damn you people. It's been a week and they never even got mine int he database yet. :'(

I need a hug.

If it makes you feel any better - mine is sitting at the CFO's office for "review". Y'all will be fine...

Mine was a full 8 days before it appeared online. Don't worry...

It's not that, it's just there's two lee enfields and a bolt action .22 sitting at the gunshop just waiting for me.

Guys, I just got my card today! Yay!

My process went as such:
From the date I mailed my app in (Apr 16th) to when it was acknowledged was about 2 weeks. I that time, the licensing fees were withdrawn from my credit card.
On May 7th, my references were called and I did my RCMP phone interview. On May 18th the license was issued.
On May 19th it was mailed.
On May 27th, I got it in my hot little hands!
Tomorrow I start shopping!

mine was approved 28days from rec.date not post date and it also seemed a computer did it , all my references were done early after 28 days of rec.date that night at 12:15 am for hell of it did a look up and to my surprise it said approved and in mail meanwhile hr earlier nothing.:)
