Hey guys,

I have a queation I wasn't able to find an answer to online and haven't had a chance to ask my local gunsmith.

Let's say I have a NR-PAL, can I buy Ammo for a restricted firearm (let's say I want to start buying it before I get my R-PAL) or do I have to have an R-PAL to buy restricted firearm ammunition?

Thanks!

No such thing as restricted firearm ammo.

Firearm classification has nothing to do with ammo.

Your PAL is valid to buy any kind of legal ammo (as in not prohibited).

What Rick said.

There are plenty of NR carbines and rifles out there that shoot 'handgun' ammo.

Athough I did go into a shop once that checked that I had an RPAL before they sold me 9mm.

I've heard of this happening. Pretty lame when a gun shop doesn't know the laws.

As you live in Ontario the Ontario Ammunition Act applies and they will keep a log of you buying ammo, and even thou the act states they have to record your address they should only record you pal details as the CFO has told them this is not required for them to track you.
