Palma brass primers

I feel like I always see good results from the CCI-BR4's or the Federal 205M's. Not having any experience with either of these in .308 however, this is just my observation.

When you gys get your shipment of Lapua, my Dasher will be run on 205M's ;)

I tried Dominion SR primers. Low ES, but the occasional pierced primer. I went back to CCI BR4 primers. My current load has an ES of 4 over 5 shots. They work better for my rifle/ cartridge combo than CCI 450. I'm sure other SR primer brands will work well in different barrels/cartridges.

I have tried the BR-4s as well during load testing. Accuracy, ES, SD were all very good and had no reason to try any others at the time.
Peter, I have some BR-4s here if you need some.

X2 I had great results with CCI BR4 so didn't even try anything else.

Hi Peter,
I have done VERY limited load development with CCI BR4 and 450 using 46.0 Varget, Berger 155.5 FB. Here are the numbers (10 shots):
ave ES SD
2970 24 8.5
2984 19 5.6
2975 24 7.9
2969 16 4.6
2969 15 5.7

Next was to put them in the very capable hands of Nicole who shot at 900M at Connaught with scores of 75.14, 75.11 and 75.8 as the wind picked up through the day. See what I have to keep up with? ;-)

I don't know how I can improve on this so will not try other primers.

Kind Regards, Gale

Hi Gale:

Nice to hear from you and great to see Nicole shooting so well.

Thanks also to Terry P, Jimmy J, Kudu and Ron., appreciate the feedback.

Hi Peter
I have found that my choice of primer for best results changes based on the powder I am using.
Some primers work a little better than others with your choice of powder and pressures achieved.
CCI BR4,FedGM,FED ARGM,and even S&B,s work
Always found CCI BR’s to work well with Varget loads.
The target results are the judge with each barrel.
Give me a call if you want
Regards
Gord

Another vote for CCI BR4's, I use CCI BR series primers for everything now. I found that I was getting some deformation with FGMM when seating them with my RCBS hand tool, Once I tried CCI no longer getting mishaped primers on seating.

I just got some Lapua Palma brass, and was going trying to find the answer to this same question. Apparently it'll be BR-4's. Thanks everyone.

I'm having good luck with the BR-4 in 6.5 CM Lapua brass with H4350. Much tighter ES and SD than I'm used to seeing.
I don't have any experience with the 308 Palma.
