The Palmer's Gulch 2013 info sheet and entry form is now posted on the Heffley Creek Gun Club website. Main match is June 29-30 with sidematches on June28 and a team longrange match on July 1.

Longerange is about 75 maybe 100, shilouette targets scattered around from 25 to 300 yards. Rams turkeys pigs and chickens all mixed at different ranges. 2 teams of whoever wants to shoot, mostly BC against Alberta, best 2 out of 3 timed. It is a real mad minute. with about 25 or more members per team

Sounds like fun :)

I think I will try it. Start on the close ones and work out to where I can't see them anymore.

With enough people shooting no one will know if I miss!!! :)

We registered yesterday. This is one of the best run, highly competitive, very enjoyable Cowboy matches in Canada. Normally 100+ shooters attend this match. Great dry camping, a spectacular mountain range and 100+ happy people who really enjoy each others company. You don't have to try very hard to have fun at this match. Come once and you'll come every year.

Curious what the round count is for the main match: and what would be a good guess-timate for the side matches?

You will need at least 100 rifle, 100 pistol and 40-50 shotgun for the main match. Side matches vary depending on how many you shoot and how many times you shoot. After the first time for official score, some shooters shoot again just for fun. We also have a practice bay that is available whenever the range is open. My buddy Too Dusty has been known to go through 500-600 rounds just at the practice bay.

Frankly I'd love too. Unfortunately I'm registered for the Wyoming State Championships in June and the Montana State Championships in July. The only way I can get more time off from work to travel is to retire! On the bright side, I've only got 21 months to go :)

Granny One Shot and I just registered and looking forward to seeing all our friends in BC again. For anyone on the fence about going Lefty puts on an awesome shoot and you will have tons of fun. :D

Registration submitted! I'm excited to attend my first match :)

I signed up with SASS last night so it'll be interesting to see what the number is compared you yours.

Hey John in B.C.

The individual long range consists of 4 targets up against a hillside.
they are at approx 100,200,300+ and the last one I believe is close to 500yds.
All targets are large steel gongs or saw blades. You are given (at least in the past)
4 rds for each target, the event is timed with a max of 6 minutes.
shooting sticks allowed.I believe 2 categories buffalo type guns and Lever action .
Range is open to practice before any events begin.
See you at Palmer's
Cheers

By then there is usually a campfire ban. However the Lions Club is on site and supply meals Sat and Sun and breakfast Mon. There are some fire pits if there is no ban. Check when you get in.

I usually set up a tent at PG, but it is the only place that I tent anymore. There are all kinds of camping spots, some in the trees and some in the open depending on your preference.
