Just picked up a new-to-me Para 15-40 from a fellow CGNer.
Even though I'm an old fashioned Colt Commander & Browning High Power person, I do think it's fairly pretty. It does point nice too.

Anyone have any experience with this particular model? I was wondering if it had any idiosyncracies, preferences of ammo, good or bad habits. Probably going to need some accessories, mags and the like. Any CGN sponsors carrying useful bits?

Let you know how the range test goes.

Just back from the range. Well, it went bang every time I pressed the trigger; even with three different mags. Very comfortable, controllable, strong and weak hand, as well as with both. Now as far as grouping goes... I only had one type of commercial reloads to try and it didn't really care for them. Looks like some load testing is in order.

My advice to you is to check your mag lips. The lips on 2 mags I bought for my 14.45 needed a bit of tuning with a jeweller's hammer to correct a fault in curvature. Caused a couple stovepipes, but not a single problem since I did a bit of tinkering.

Other than that, lube your hotspots and fire away!

Pistol finishes

Never been real big on chrome finishes but a I''ll admit that a decent brushed stainless can look real good. The finish on the Para is kind of different. It's a parkerized (?) frame that doesn't look very scratch resistant and some sort of a tough looking synthetic coating on the slide. Whatever happened to good old fashioned bluing?

It would probably look better with a brushed chrome frame, other than that it looks great.
