Looking at getting my first 1911. I like the look of the Para's, is there much of a difference in accuracy between barrel lengths. Any other differences?

I cannot comment on the differences, but I do own and SSP and it is an amazing pistol for the price. I believe the only difference is the barrel size and that you can get the LTC in stainless which looks amazing.

If I had the money I would definately get an LTC Stainless.

My SSP is a shooter and I love it. I would buy a LTC in a heartbeat except I have a Nornico Commander all fixed up so I don't need another. I don't reallly notice a lot of difference between the two. The LTC in stainless and would be nice particularily if you intend to carry concealed. Gun weighs a little less and the barrel is shorter.

I don't find a significant difference in results using the Commander with 3/4 " less barrel. If you don't have a 1911 then I think the SSP is a better way to start.

Paras come with a lifetime warranty and their service is probably the best in the industry. The new Kimbers with the external extractor have been a real failure and I understand Kimber is going back to an internal extractor. The Paras come with a ramped barrel and their new power extractor is huge and works. Much better than the original style IMHO.

Both of mine have been extremely accurate right out of the box and have yet to have a FTF.

All that aside Para is a Canadian Co. managing to compete sucessfully against some awhful big competition. Their products are well received in the US market and guys that have them love them.

A very good buy.

I have never shot a Kimber, so I cannot comment on them, but just from a price stand point alone the Para is the better choice.

I do not believe you can get a Kimber with the features of an SSP/LTC for under a grand, let alone a lifetime warranty and as mentioned above. Para is a Canadian brand and that alone make it the better choice for me.
