Paracord?

Not really a gunsmith question but I couldn't decide where to put this question.

When I see guns wrapped in paracord (eg. Little Badgers, and other survival type setups) I think it can look nice but I can't shake the feeling that it could cause rusting issues that you will not be aware of until you unwrap the item. Is this an issue?

Only if you let it become an issue. I've got a knife handle wrapped in 550. No rust.

Same as with any stock, little bit of grease or renaissance wax before you wrap it or close it up

It will wick moisture. So, it will induce rust if not properly cared off.

Maybe soaking the cord in a thick drying oil first would seal the fibres and not allow them to hold moisture
