what is the effect,if any, of using a scope set up for 100 yard parallax at ranges well under that?-ie-25 -50 yards
I have a unique situation whereby I need a scope for my BSE Martini .22 with at least 5-6''of eye relief, and a shotgun scope might work, but those I have looked at have 100 yard parallax settings. Is that going to be a problem?

I put a bushnell elite tactical 10x40 on a 22lr, that scope is set for 100yard(or meters I forget) anyway much closer than that I can't get a good focus, at 50yards I usually see double crosshairs both ways, when I can find them, overall not very pleasant to use but is good at 100yards.
Don't know if that's gonna be the same results with other brands and designs. Best thing is if you can try it and see if its any good for you.

Hard to get really tight groups with 100 yard parallax scope at 25-50 yards.
The x-hairs move a bit.
If you can consistantly keep your eye on the occular lense in the exact same spot,
then you're good to go.

A long eye relief scope would be best for that Martini.

One trick bench resters use to fine tune their paralax came from the pre AO scopes. Hold your head back as far as possible from the ocular lens and make the visible centre as small as possible.

That will normally keep the paralax to a minimum.

For that rifle, there are some very reasonably priced scopes with sub 25 meter paralax adjustments. I have an old bushnell that I use on a Martini and have it mounted on the barrel just in front of the chamber. It is mounted high to allow loading but it works very well.

thats exactly my situation-the scope must be mounted on the barrel just in front of the chamber-and that means I need a scope with about 5-6'' of eye relief and parallax set for 50 yards.Fixed power would be fine.

I believe the banner 3-9 shotgun scope has 6" eye relief and parallax set to 50yds. Probably not a great quality optic but the only one I can think of off hand.

Looks like this is 100yd parallax scope too

I called NIKON customer support asking if they had any EER models with Parallex set for 50yds-and they had EER scopes and scopes with 50yd parallax-but nothing with both.I'm stumped....does anybody make a model like this?I've looked at shotgun models-they have heavy black cross hairs-''turkey'' models as a possible solution-but they generally have a ''circle'' for a reticule,I need a duplex reticule for a .22

My Leupold Rifleman 4 - 12 power had the 150 parallax altered to 75 yards. Good enough for my purposes shooting from 50 yards to 100 metres.
On my CZ452 American it is comparable to the Varmint with a Redfield 10X AO.
