paratrooper m1 carbine folding wood stock

I would look on Ebay for an Italian made repro. They are very close to the originals as said....and are a bit more flimsy as well. An original M1A1 stock is very expensive....and you need the correct Inland to go into it. The Italian stocks are just the ticket. They are designed to fit USGI carbines...some of the civilian rifles may take some work to fit properly.....You can fit a USGI sling and oiler to the Italian stock, and you will be ready to hit Carentan......;)

I had two originals in the 70s. Both were on Winchesters. Never heard they only put them on GM built ones before.

Actually, Inland got the contract to build the M1A1. All the original stocks are marked OI, a standard Inland manufacturing code. Some pistol grips were marked RI, another Inland code. All original un-rebuilt M1A1's are Inlands.

If you have seen other contractors receivers in an original M1A1 stock, this is usually the result of the massive postwar rebuild of all returned carbines to U.S. arsenals. Or a postwar civilian owner just swapped his group into a purchased surplus M1A1 stock.

I saw quite recently a Underwood carbine in an M1A1 stock. It had the usual post war upgrades. After stripping, the trigger housing was Winchester, bolt was Rock Ola, handguard was a Type 1 Saginaw Gear. The M1A1 stock had a rebuild stamp RIA on it was well. So, the stock itself ran through the Rock Island Arsenal at one point in its life.

Is it a good looking M1A1 carbine? Yes. Is it an original WW2 M1A1? No.

Interesting. Unfortunately I no longer have them nor a M2 I had either. All my paper route money for years went to buy them. Back then you could buy them for $75-125. As I got older and started driving my interests turned to chasing skirts,so one by one the unused guns were sold off to fund used muscle cars (they were cheap too in the 70s) All in all I'd sooner have the guns than the cars today.

As M1 Carbine parts, the repro stocks are restricted for US export along with parts for AK-47 etc. If you do find a retailer who will ship to Canada it's because they are either ignorant of the law or don't care.

I got one from the US a while ago. ;)

just remember those laws for export are ITAR related and canada HAS signed meaning if the US so chooses you CAN be charged here IN canada.......

follow the laws get your permits

as of last week for sure they will NOT approve any M1 carbine parts for export.... I inquired about it with several US licensed exporters
