Paratrooper SKS

Just picked up this shorty SKS but I don't know much about it, just thought it looked cool. 16 inch barrel so it's restricted and it's missing the bayonet unfortunately. I also noticed the charging handle looks very different from a typical SKS. It also has some different marking on the left side of the receiver. The mags is a bit different too and there is no bolt hold open making it nearly impossible to use stripper clips. I thought it might be a type 84 but I really don't know. Anyone know anything about this shorty SKS?

Para is rare up here but fairly common in the US. Is there an US import marking?

I can't read what is printed on the left side of the receiver, looks like caliber and SIE something?

Another rare item is the carrier, indeed it's an Albanian.

I'm confused why the mag has a duckbill when you said it's detachable.

16” Paratroopers are Uber rare indeed. Only saw one at a gun show once years back.

Rifle looks like a hybrid? All #’s matching? The mag and cocking handle doesn’t seem right that’s all.

Yes, these were a commercial rifle made specifically for the US market - hence the 16 inch barrel (shorter than 16 in the US and you need paperwork for an SBR). These rifles were never a military issue item. This one has been fitted, after production, with an Albanian bolt carrier (check the headspace). These were never sold in any quantity in Canada, due to them being restricted. There are very few Albanian SKS's in Canada, and that's only the second carrier I've seen in a non-Albanian gun. SARCO and Numerich both sold the carriers, before ITAR so I'd guess there are more out there, somewhere.

There’s a few 18.5” Chinese SKS paratroopers that Marstar brought in years back.

I’ve got this one built but looks pretty much the same. The soon to be CGN sponsored gunsmith and retailer said it was a pain to do since everything is pressed on the Chinese models. They won’t do it again.
