Pardon my ignorance, but...(.17M2)

Okay , maybe a dumb question , but....

If I had an old tube-fed bolt-action .22LR that I'd like to re-line to .17 M2........would I have any worries re: "pointy-bulleted" .17 M2 rounds lining up behind one another in the magazine tube ?

Or do rimfire-primed cartridges not have the the same "tube magazine detonation" concerns that centerfire-primed cartridges might ?

An interesting question - but I think that you have supposed right - there is not near enough recoil to affect primers - especially - as I think that you may have forgotten - since the point would not be touching the rim, but the centre ( roughly) of the following bullet.

I could likely do the job for you - I do have the reamer for .17 M2 - not sure if I have a liner here - how long is the barrel?

re 17M2 conversion.

Ive also got a tube fed cooey 60... I'd love to convert it to .17M2
and thread the end of it for one of those tactical solutions compensators... just for the cool factor. Anchor.. can you do this work ? the liner? recrown etc...and threading? pls send me a PM

Here's a pic that kinda shows how they'd line up. There would be some extra clearance in the mag tube that would allow the point to move a bit closer to the rim, but it would have to be pretty sloppy for it to get all the way out to the primer area.

Between the extremely low recoil forces and the low probability of the point getting to the outside edge, I'd say you're good to go.

The rimfire cases are safe. The points line up with the centre. Besides how much recoil do you expect from a 17m2? Or are you planning on using the but to hammer nails? Even then......
