My Dad has an old Parker Hale 303 British that is in minty shape. Back in the early 80's he had a weaver base installed on it with a Ruko scope.

Its not 1980 anymore and the scope is pretty horrible to look through. I'm not a huge fan of Weaver rings so what would you guys suggest for rings? They need to be as low as possible, but be the tip off style.

I should add that the scope sitts so high on this setup. I wish I could shim it with the Burris Sig rings but I dont think they make tip off ones...

I'm debating on a Bushnell Elite 3-9x40 for it.

Sounds like he had a Weaver TO-1 mount installed? Kwik-Site and B-Square make mount converters that will go on that mount and then accept regular Weaver-style rings, which opens it up to all other brands that use the Weaver style crossbolts.

Unfortunately adding another layer raises the scope higher on what is already typically a high mount. Cabela's stocks the Kwik-Site. The B-Square is a bit lower, costs more, and I've only found it at Brownells online and they won't ship it to Canada. Maybe you can find someone in Canada who deals in B-Square.

Or, remove the current mount and get a generic Weaver mount drilled to match the existing holes.

Ya its the TO-1 mount. I was hoping someone has had experence setting up a scope on the 303. It sits quiet high of the rifle so there needs to be lots of adjustment in the scope or shimming somehow.

Well - The T-01 is not blessed with excessive engineering. It uses 22 rings, and only locks axially at the front ring. So you are required to buy 22 rings. Some 22 rings dont work so well because the leading edge of the claw is rounded, and rides over the " nub" in the T-01 mount, ruining the mount. I went through this a few years ago, and settled on Weavers as being the best suited.

I think the lowest set up you will find is the parker hale 20 front base and 21 rear base, takes PH rolloff rings, they are pretty tough to find but they are out there. if that is a parker hale #4 it should already be drilled and tapped to accept them.
