parker hale 375 H&H

I have had and sold 2.........there around but you have to turn over a lot of rocks to find one..........

It depends on how bad the seller wants to part with it usually.
I have no problem with $ 800 reason being that they leave the factory in a beefier state than most 375s.
All cross-bolts are bedded in the proper places and bedding is done.
Factor in superb accuracy and you have a well built package that is under-rated in my books.

I agree that the Parker Hale .375s are good value for the money, as are most Parker Hale's in my opinion. If only I could find one in .404 Jeffery, but those seem very rare here.

I have never seen one in 404, only pictures and it looks no different appearance-wise than the 375s.
The 404 Parker Hale would be lighter than my P14 built one which would be nice because mine is one of those all-round heavy builds that very little if anything can be done to lighten it up, except perhaps stock work.
.

I always assumed that PH bolt actions for 375h&h were standard length 30/06 actions that had been opened up to accept the longer cartridge...including the feed ramp which meant that the back of the lower action locking lug had been partially ground down. Is this not the case?

As far as I know without looking closely I would say yes.
My old Browning Safari 375 which is that crossbreed Sako has full contact on the lugs.

I agree, PH are way under-rated IMHO.
QC of them were better than FN and Huskie's as well.
I would say they are as good as Brno's.
Don't flame me, it is my personal opinion only....

It is our opinion only that if you are looking for a top quality Parker Hale regardless of chambering then by all means do your best to attend the Kamloops Gun Show.

I had one in 375 H&H and one in 458 WM . I bought both of them from Bob Prestach at Trail Firearms years ago . They were both accurate and reliable rifles , more rifles I regret selling . The 458 was an honest MOA shooter using 400 gr Speers over IMR 3031 . Great Moose rifle , but a bit chunky .
I did lay eyes on a 404 once , it was in a shop north of London ( uk ) in the town of Barnet . That was more years ago than I care to remember .
I'd buy either again with no hesitation .
