Parker Hale Help

Hey,

Stock is all one solid piece no fancy tip.
It is Monte Carlo style with hard cut, clean checkering.
Has some figure.
Has scope mounts, they appear unused, entire rifle appears ‘new’
Has fold down iron sight and hooded front
No “Safari” on barrel, just ‘BNP’ with crown and the caliber (30-06)
On the bottom of the barrel (under the stock) the crossed sword stamp says YB with 2 underneath.

Thanks for all the input, I don’t know how to post pics, maybe I can figure that soon here...

If there is no thumb cut out on the left side of the receiver then it is most likely the Santa Barbara commercial action 1200 model.

The PH actions are Mausers so any trigger built for a 98 Mauser should work. You might want to check the return policy just in case but there should be no problems. Timney has been building Mauser triggers forever.
They are an oddball in themselves on a CIL BA so without massive modifications just any 98 trigger will not work.

The main difference is the rear of the trigger housing extends to the rear screw hole, and into the stock deeper then other commercial triggers. Not a lot of work to get a Timney in there, most smiths are probably quite familiar with it, a rear pillar would probably be all that is needed with a little inletting.

I THINK I have 1100's, a lightweight (6.5x55) and a deluxe (30-06). Both are great shooting rifles.

Yeah, the trouble is that there are several variations and we still don't know exactly what he has for certain. That's why I put the disclaimer in there to check the return policy on a trigger even though I've dropped Timney's into PH actions with no extra work required.

mbogo3, there is a 1/4" shim at the tang of the original PH trigger.
Then, if the PH used the "reversed "V" type of cocking piece, your friend will need a Timney # 302

The flat bottomed cocking pièces (commercial) use a Timney # 301

Hitzy,

The top one is more likely a Moel 1100 "lightweight" (most likely, because of the hollow bolt handle), or a "Midland" (model 2700, with the schanabel fore end if made after 1990) while the bottom one seems to be a "81 Classic" - similar to the "Model 1000" but with the side safety and adjustable trigger.

Depending on time and production (if it was real PH or a Gibbs made rifle) the Midland was declined in the Santa Barbara action, in the "modified" Santa Barbara with 1903 bolts with "engraved" floorplate etc...

FWIW the 1200 is the model with the MC stock and rosewood fore end....

I have the 1100 Lwt in .308 the same as the one pictured above with the schnabel stock, but without the cross bolt. The front checkering pattern is also different.
Mine is also clearly marked "Safari De Luxe" in a gold script on the left side of the action.

I'll have to check the proofs tonight, I recall one being obviously Spanish with the "Spain" grind and the other I wasn't sure about. Both are very smooth and the palm swells feel good, triggers I adjusted and are really nice too.
6.5LW is 1984 code, maybe Yugo receiver, no scrubs on it.
30'06 is 1976 and obviously Spanish with the scrub.

Then, it's a Safari de Luxe, not a 1100.... The Safari line was before the 1000/1100/1200 etc.

I have 2 Parker Hale Safari Super rifles. One in 30-06 the other in 7mm Rem. I am quite fond of them and they both shoot well.
