Parker Hale is really a customising shop rather than a firearms manufacturer. In the post war years and many years after, they rolled out many sporter Enfields and sporterised Mausers built on military actions.

Parker Hale is also 'famous' for its later Mausers of the 1000, 1100 and 1200 series. These were spanish built Mauser actions on behalf of Parker Hale. The trigger unit was adjustable.

Parker Hale also made the C3 rifle for the then Canadian Armed Forces.

The rifles which have less appreciation/following and are regarded as lower end rifles were the Midland rifles.

Parker Hale is also known for its Bipod and it is regarded as one of the best bipods of its day and today(although too much $$ for what it is in my opinion)

have parker hale model 85's in 3006 and 7mm mag still new in the boxes and one 308 model 85 shooter. they are nice rifles---to bad co in no longer in business

Sparkbrook PH

Parker Hale has been around for a long time. I own a Long Lee in .303 from Sparkbrook that was properly sportered by PH. It is a light, accuate and elegant firearm. They also make the most sought after peep sights for the Lee Enfield line. Was ist denn mit den Deutschen in dieser Serie?:slap:

does it look like this?

Mine does 2-3" groups at 200 yards.

Pics.

...so heres the pics. of the Parker Hale , I hope they will narrow down the specifics as to what model and action this rifle is, possible vintage etc.
Also if anyone can give me a ballpark figure of value for my buddy that would be great. Rifle has a shiny bore and is a straight shooter with a solid feeling action.

All the replies and info. from you guys is much appreciated,
Mad Mikey.:shotgun:

Parker Hale

I own one in .300 Win Mag and my Hunting partner has a .270 .

It's known as a 1200 Super Series Safari Grade , They are good hunting rifles .
I Paid $475.00 4 years ago ( used mint condition ) , My Hunting partner bought his in 1979 and he paid $150.00 for it ( new )
Hope this help's.:sniper:

I have a Parker Hale Safari Deluxe in 308 Norma Magnum. It is built on a Santa Barbara Commercial Mauser action, and is a great rifle. Any load I have tried is 1½" or better, with the 180 Accubond and a big load of Norma MRP doing just around ¾-1moa on a regular basis. I consider them one of the underrated rifles around, and always keep my eyes open for a good deal on one. I don't care for the detachable magazine models, because the magazines are getting hard to find and quite pricey. The hinged floorplate models built on the commercial Mauser action are just the ticket, though. Regards, Eagleye.

i have a 1200c safari in 30/06 and whenever i get the urge too sell it and pick something new up something always stops me. the only thing that i don't like about it is the bolt feels kinda sloppy when its fully out (but i've heard this is "normal" for this gun), and sometimes it skips over a round in the mag when loading. shoots nice tho

I have 2 parker hales one in .308 and one in .270. have never had a problem with them. Bolt slide is a little floppy but that does not affect anything. I 've had people tell me they do not like them for that reason. I shot my first one back in 77 my buddy's father had a 30-06 ( 1200C), liked it then and still do

Your rifle is build on a commercial Mauser 98 action(no thumb slot). It may have "Made in Spain" stamped on the left side of the rear receiver tang. If it does, it came from the same factory in Spain that made the Santa Barbara actions.

the only thing that i don't like about it is the bolt feels kinda sloppy when its fully out (but i've heard this is "normal" for this gun), and sometimes it skips over a round in the mag when loading. shoots nice tho

The sloppy open bolt is normal for a 98. The important thing is that it's not sloppy when it's closed.:)

The bolt skipping over a round when loading is not normal. Replacing the magazine spring with a stiffer one would probably fix the problem.

Parker Hale

Nice Rifles!
I have:
Model 1200c - .270/.300 Win Mag
Model 1200P - 30-06
Custom No. 1 - .303
Custom No. 4 - .303
1100M - .458 Win Mag

If you remove the stock on the underside of the barrel you will find a small stamp that looks like a pair of crossed swords with a letter on the left and another on the right. You might need a magnifying glass to see it. If you provide me with those two letters I can tell you what year your rifle was made. On later years there will be a circle with two letters rather than the swords. Collectors seem to like ones made in the late sixties as they had nicer wood. I had a 1200 7mm that was made in '84 and it had the plainest piece of wood I have ever seen. My .270 was made in '69 and has beautiful wood.
